Who’d have thought the Canary Islands were a growing hub for the digital nomad community?
I’ve just arrived back at Nine Coliving in north Tenerife. Nestled in a traditional Spanish town, this gem of a
This is actually my third time back at Nine…which pretty much sums up how much I freakin love this place!
If you’re a nomad looking for your next pad or planning your route into the digital life, here’s exactly why you should head to Nine in sunny Tenerife.

A Community That Makes You Feel Right at Home
Having spent a lot of time in Hostels and a coliving space in Chiang Mai already, the idea of living in a house with other nomads seems totally normal by now. And honestly…I love it!
So, Nine seemed like the perfect base to live and work.
One of the best things about Nine is the community that makes you feel part of the family. Anne, it’s incredible owner, knew exactly how to create the right vibe here.
There’s the daily rooftop yoga, Sunday BBQ, family dinner during the week…and many spontaneous trips around the island!
A lot of the digital nomad hubs are cities, think Chiang Mai and Lisbon. These places are fabulous, but I often feel exhausted trying to navigate the city, fitting in work, sight-seeing, socialising. It’s a whole different vibe.
At Nine, just sitting on the rooftop, with the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other, it’s so calming.
Many of the activities are outdoors, like hiking, surfing, rock climbing, and it’s just incredible and energising to spent time surrounded by such beauty.
Coliving spaces like Nine are fab because all of the
The rooms are spacious and bright, and even when the house is fully booked, theres always a quiet space to curl up with a book when you want to relax.
Have you ever been to a coworking space and felt totally out of place?
This was me in Sydney. It was a professional, smart environment, which is what many people want from their environment. But as a nomad, I love to eat breakfast at my desk, still in yoga pants, and feel totally relaxed.
This is why I love the coworking room at Nine. You can sit anywhere, book the meeting room for those calls, and it has the most beautiful view.
Whilst the Canary Islands are a long way from mainland Spain, they’re actually beaming with Culture.
When I first arrived in La Orotava in June, the local patron saints festival (Corpus Christi) was just getting started in the town.
It was a week long party!
All of the locals dress in traditional clothing, there’s dancing on the square, parades, music, beautiful flower carpets lining the streets. It’s the best time to visit this adorable town!
For 2020, Corpus Christi is on June 11th.
If you’re not at Nine during festival season, you can still get serious Spanish vibes at the many Tapas bars and exploring the hilly streets.
Lara & Gypsy!
One of the hardest things about being away from home is missing the pets! And don’t worry, they’re my
Lara is the adorable dog who’s a permeant resident here at Nine. I love going on hikes with this bundle of energy!
And for cat people out there, you’ll find Gypsy in the garden (when Lara’s not around). She’s so cute!
Of course, I had to end this post with animals! But seriously, I love spending time at Nine Coliving so much.
And I’m so grateful for Anne and the Nine crew for creating such a wonderful space for us nomads to live work and play!
Time to make it your next digital nomad destination y’all!
