If you’re vegan or veggie and haven’t heard of Happy Cow you need to check it out!
When planning my Europe trip last summer, Happy Cow was recommended by multiple bloggers and vloggers. In essence, its a search engine for vegan and veggie options around the world; Trip Advisor for herbivores! You can read reviews, find opening times, and it links to the map on your phone so you can find yummy food on the go.
The website is free to use but when you’re travelling the app is super handy. Whilst I don’t normally go for paid apps, it’s only £3.99 and definitely worth it, especially if you’re vegan and like to find great places to eat.
My favourite thing about Happy Cow is that you can organise your trips before you go, saving cafes and restaurants under different headings, such as the country or city you’re visiting. This was great because even though spontaneously finding a hidden gem is great, us vegans know the struggles of not being able to find anywhere with veggie options when out and about. You can just open up your list of saved places, or search for food places near you.
One thing you should note is that the information is not always updated for example, if a cafe shuts down, so it’s a good idea to quickly Google where you’re going if it’s out of your way.
I was led to some fantastic places through this app, and overall would totally recommend it to my fellow vegans and vegetarians out there. Or, even if your flexitarian and just enjoy veggie food, this one’s for you too!
